Club Goals 2008

NB. The club goals are currently under review for 2008. The information below is out of date and maintained for reference only.

To be a club that people want to be associated with.

To provide a safe, welcoming environment for the enjoyment of triathlon.

Provide athletes with the opportunity for improvement through goal setting, coaching and encouragement for all abilities, covering all disciplines equally.

Membership

Improve or maintain the level in numbers of members (213 at the time of writing), maintaining or improving the number of women members from the current 25%, and improving the overall number of active members.

Use the feedback from the membership questionnaire to improve the offerings to members.  Carry out the membership questionnaire annually (last run 2003).

Coaching

Increase the number of Level 1 coaches to 10 and develop 2 further Level 2 coaches from within the 10. Develop a Level 3 coach as Senior Club Coach. Increase the number of female coaches within the team.

Provide a structured, annual, coaching plan ensuring current knowledge and guidelines of all disciplines and rules, to assist athletes of all abilities.

Provide coached training sessions for all abilities to cover all disciplines, backed up with monthly training notes.  Provide multiple coaches where possible to deliver training.

Create a Youth section for members under 17, providing coaching and training sessions in all disciplines by qualified coaches and qualified volunteers (holding a recognised volunteer certificate).

BTF

To participate in the development of triathlon as a sport in the UK and the region by attending and being active within the British Triathlon Federation and the South East Region. To gain recognition from the British Triathlon Federation for the club development.

Create a 3 year development plan for the club for inclusion in the BTF Clubmark scheme.

Increase the members of the BTF in the club to in excess of 50% of the club membership.

Complete Clubmark registration with signoff from the British Triathlon Federation.

Competition

Create and publish a calendar of events of all distances that the club will support, with the aim of getting as many members to compete wearing club kit in these events as possible.

Including in this calendar regular club events in all disciplines and distances contributing to the Clubs Championships.

Two key focuses will be on racing to get strong results for the club and also “mass participation” events, allowing for the social aspects of the events.

Funding

Complete the spending from the existing “Awards for All” funding and actively seek new funding from “Awards from All” in 2005, for use in purchasing equipment and for coaching development.

Social Events

Organise 4 events per year including 1 being the Awards Dinner in the first 2 months of each year.

Publicity

Continue to maintain and develop the club website ensuring currency of information at all times.

Continue with the press coverage in the Farnham Herald and extend to 2 other newspapers. Publish 2 club supported articles in the specialist Triathlon or sporting press.

Reviews

Progress reviews will take place through the Committee and Coaches meetings regularly throughout the year.  Feedback to the members will be via the newsletter, e-mail updates and the website.
